TalkBoard - Guidelines
- MISSION
- The FlyerTalk TalkBoard (TB) exists to
- represent the interests of the FlyerTalk membership at large
- to serve in an advisory capacity to the Flyer Talk host
- The TB serves the following purposes:
- prioritizing recommendations on product/service enhancements for FlyerTalk
- involvement in the Q&A process - participating in alpha/beta testing and participating between the Beta and general release (Beta acceptance) of product/service development
- providing input to the FlyerTalk host regarding general user issues as may be directed to them by the general FT Member population.
- responding to action requests from the FlyerTalk host for issues/situations that fall outside the scope of established policies and procedures
- ensuring on-going feedback between the FlyerTalk host, his representatives, and its General Members.
- BOARD ORGANIZATION
- TB Members
- The TB will consist of 9 voting members, chosen by popular election. The FT host can serve as an ad hoc TB member at will and has the authority to quell any issue being discussed by the TalkBoard, which interferes with the overall operation and well-being of the Flyer Talk web site.
- TB member must be an active, registered member of the FT Community.
- Election/Selection
- TB Member
- Interested candidates must be able to commit to minimum weekly discussion and voting participation then submit a profile specifying their area of primary interest and involvement in the FT Community (e.g. which miles/points area is of primary interest), accompanied by a statement describing their reason(s) for choosing to be a candidate. For a minimum of 2 weeks following the announcement of candidates, FT Members will vote and FlyerTalk Management will tally results. The new TB member(s) will be announced within 10 days of the end of the vote closure. The Term of these newly elected TB members will begin within the week.
- TB Officers
- The TB shall elect a President to serve a one year term no later than 4 weeks after the general election.
- Any voting member of the Talkboard may run in the presidential election.
- The presidential elections shall be conducted as follows: Any candidate garnering more than 2/3 of the total TB vote in the primary presidential vote shall be immediately declared the winner. If there are more than 2 candidates in the primary vote, and none receive 2/3 of the total vote then a final vote shall be held for the candidates who garner the top two scores (including ties) in the primary. In the final vote, the President shall be decided by a simple majority vote. If there are no more than two candidates for President, then there will be no primary election before the final vote.
- President: Will act as executive officer of TB and function as Secretary, ensuring that timely consideration of issues takes place, keeping the parliamentary processes flowing, and providing liaison between individual TalkBoard members and the Flyer Talk host.
- The TB has the option to Elect a vice-president.
- Vice President: Will assume the duties of the TB President when he/she is not available.
- It is of utmost importance for the TB President to communicate to the TB Vice President when his/her availability is in question.
- Should the current president not be re-elected to the Talkboard during their term of office, they may continue as a non-voting member for 4 weeks until their replacement is chosen.
- Term of Membership
- TB Member
- The term of a TB member shall be two (2) years. There is no limit to the consecutive number of terms to which a member may be re-elected.
- TB Officers
- The term of a TB Officer shall be one (1) year; however, there are no restrictions regarding concurrent terms.
- Resignation/Termination
- A vacancy in the TB shall be declared if a member:
- Resigns
- Is removed at the request of the FlyerTalk Host or a 2/3 vote of the TBmembership
- Removal
- Should it be determined by a 2/3 majority of the TB that any member is not fulfilling their obligations as described below, a request for removal and replacement of said member will be sent to the FlyerTalk Host for action.
- Grounds for removal
- Is unable to particpate in three consecutive discussions without prior notice
- Misses 3 consecutive calls to vote without prior notice
- Is no longer an active, registered member of the FT Community
- Demonstrates by his/her actions that he/she is not able to actively participate in the TB duties
- Acts in violation of the FT member Terms of Service (TOS)
- Replacement
- A vacancy in the TB shall be filled by appointment by the FlyerTalk host, for the remaining unexpired term. The TB will use the election results from the latest election to determine eligible candidates and submit them to the FlyerTalk host for consideration working in an advisory capacity only. The FT host makes the final decision on replacements, announces it to the FT Community at large, and grants access to the private TalkBoard forum.
- AMENDMENTS
- Process to Amend
- Proposed amendments to these guidelines must be submitted in writing to the TB in their private forum.
- Approval
- Amendments to these guidelines can be made by a two-thirds majority vote of the TB members.
